Creating a Pause Offer

N
Written by Nawras Ganim

A pause offer lets a customer temporarily suspend their subscription instead of cancelling it outright. For customers who are not currently getting value from your product but are not necessarily done with it, pausing is often an easier yes than any other offer.

How to create a pause offer

  • Open your flow and go to the Offers step

  • Click Add offer and select Pause

  • Set the pause duration: anywhere from 1 to 12 months

  • Write the offer headline and description the customer will see

  • Set the targeting conditions

When to use a pause offer

The pause offer works best for:

  • Customers who select "Not using it right now" or "Just taking a break" as their cancel reason

  • Seasonal businesses or users with cyclical usage patterns

  • Customers going through a budget review or company changes

πŸ’‘ Kept in your subscriber base. A paused customer remains in your subscriber list and does not count as churned. When the pause period ends, billing resumes automatically, making this an excellent low-friction retention tool.

βœ… Churn.io applies the pause automatically. When a customer accepts the pause offer and a valid Stripe subscription ID was passed in the session, Churn.io sets a trial end date on the subscription for the configured pause duration. No backend work is required on your side.
