The Onboarding Walkthrough: What to Expect

Written by Andreas H

The onboarding walkthrough is the short guided sequence you complete the first time you sign up for churn.io — from creating your account and verifying your email through to telling us about your business and choosing a plan. It takes a couple of minutes, and this article walks you through what to expect at each step.

💡 Before you start

Have your business name and website handy. If you plan to start on a paid plan, you'll also want a payment card ready — though you won't be charged during your free trial.

Step 1: Create your account

On the Create your account page, enter your First name, Last name, Work email, and a Password. Your password needs to be at least 8 characters, and a strength meter helps you pick a strong one. When you're ready, click Create account.

If you arrived from a team invitation, your email will already be filled in and locked — sign up with the same address the invite was sent to.

Step 2: Verify your email

We immediately email you a 6-digit code. On the We sent you a code screen, type the code into the boxes and click Verify.

  • Quick-open buttons for Gmail, Outlook, and Apple mail make it easy to grab the code.

  • If the code hasn't arrived, use Resend code — it becomes available again after a short countdown.

  • Entered the wrong address? Click Change email to go back and correct it.

⚠️ Your account isn't active until you verify

The code activates your account — until you enter it, you can't continue. Check your spam folder before requesting another.

Step 3: Tell us about your business

Once your email is verified, you're welcomed into the guided setup. The first step asks for your Business name and Website. Enter a valid domain such as acme.com — if the website looks invalid, you'll see a hint and can't continue until it's corrected. Click Continue to move on.

Step 4: How did you find us?

Next, pick where you heard about churn.io — options include Organic search, Twitter / X, LinkedIn, Friend or colleague, YouTube, Newsletter, and Other. If you choose Other, a small field appears so you can tell us more. This is purely to help us understand our community. Click Continue when you've made a selection.

Step 5: Choose your plan

Now you pick how you'd like to start. Use the slider to select the churn volume that best matches your business — pricing scales with the volume you manage. You'll also find a Free plan option below.

  • Select a paid tier and click through to Choose it to start a free trial. You can toggle between monthly and annual billing on the plan card.

  • Choose the Free plan to start at no cost with no time limit.

  • If your volume is very large, you'll see a Custom option with a Book a Call button so our team can tailor a plan with you.

💡 Not sure about your volume?

Just pick your best estimate. After you connect Stripe, we verify your actual churn volume and adjust your plan automatically if needed — so you don't have to get it exactly right now.

Step 6: Confirm your plan

The final step depends on which plan you picked:

If you chose a paid plan: you'll land on the Activate your free trial screen. A summary of your selected plan appears, followed by a secure payment form. Enter your card details and click Start free trial. Your card won't be charged until your trial ends — it's only saved so your subscription is ready to go.

If you chose the Free plan: you'll see the You're starting on the Free plan screen, which lists what's included (such as one active cancellation flow and two team members) and reminds you that you can upgrade to Pro anytime. No card is required. Click Start for free to finish.

What happens next

After you confirm, a brief Setting up your workspace screen appears while we create your account, then you're taken straight to the Get Started checklist. From there, churn.io guides you through the rest of setup — connecting Stripe, designing your cancellation experience, creating your first flow, and embedding it. The Get started item stays in your sidebar until you've completed every step.
